The API and theme is…
CoreGraphics + Time!
All those fancy CG* calls, you better get familiar with them. And make sure not to box yourself into doing just stuff to a display; don’t forget that you can create a context and write something to a bitmap or even PDF.
And here’s a sample app: ICNewtime.zip. It’s a variation on a clock, showing the hour, minutes, and seconds as circles, and the day of the year, and the day of the week as lines. Very modern.
But don’t think that you have to do a clock! Be creative! Be inventive! Be … a rebel!Â

Link to API would be handy although easily googled.

That’s a cute demo app, it’d be a neat freeware app from your flying meat company.

um, I just returned from a 5 hour power outage. I don’t suppose there’s any chance of an extension is there?

Someone needs to use transitions. No idea how at this point, but you shouldn’t bring CG* calls up without the crazy undocumented stuff coming into play

I would just like to say thank you to the Ironcoder contest creators. I have just completed my first Mac OS X app ever! It was a great experience. The app is nothing sensational, but the fact that I created an app from start to finish in about 30 hours is incredible to me. I’m definitely looking forward to the next one and seeing if I can produce something a little more creative and advanced.

Hey Kitwana,
Unfortunately you uploaded the application after judging had finished. I have transferred it to http://ironcoder.org/entries/ironcoder_2/
I think we did a pretty bad job with making it clear how to submit the entries. Next time we will do better (I’ll be blogging some ideas/thoughts at my blog on http://toxicsoftware.com/blog/).
I also think it is awesome that this was your first Cocoa app. I hope you’ll enter the next contest!

Jonathan,
No worries. Actually coding a real application was reward enough this time! I look forward to participating and hopefully winning something next time! Great contest.

[…] Wow Ironcoder 2 had a grand total of 23 entries. The previous two contests had a total of 11. All off the entries were great (well ok, one was only four lines of code, but what four lines they were!). […]
